Maddie Carlson, LPC

Maddie Carlson’s Approach to Therapy

Maddie uses an empathetic and attuned approach to therapy, which seeks to create a safe space by listening to client’s experiences and tailoring treatment to fit the client's life circumstances. She takes a client-centered approach to therapy, focusing on the relationship between client and therapist and incorporating interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy and trauma research when appropriate. Maddie values an authentic therapeutic relationship and seeks to walk alongside her clients on their path to change, healing and self-understanding. She would welcome the opportunity to get to know you and your story.

About Maddie Carlson

Maddie is a clinical therapist who received her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with specialized trauma certification from Wheaton college. Grounded in evidence-based and trauma-informed practice, she aims to create a safe and compassionate environment where she can collaborate with clients to work towards growth, healing and wellness. She is passionate about working with teenagers through adults who are disenchanted with the story they’ve been given, whether from religion, their upbringing, or society, and are ready to craft their own.

When she's not in the office, Maddie enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and family. That usually includes being outdoors, hiking, exploring beaches and being in the sun. She also enjoys good food and a good adventure so a lot of her free time is spent discovering new restaurants, coffee shops or bookstores in the Chicagoland area!
