Mentalization Based Therapy Processing Group for Adults

  • Heritage Professional Associates 1737 South Naperville Road Wheaton, IL, 60189 United States (map)

Enrollment: OPEN (sign up today!)

This year-long mentalization-based processing group for adults is a therapeutic group that focuses on helping individuals develop their mentalizing capacity. Mentalization is the ability to understand that your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected and can change depending on the situation.

When you have attachment wounds, it can be hard to see that your thoughts and feelings are like a puzzle that can be solved. Mentalization helps you step back, look at the whole picture, and find new ways to put the pieces together. It's like having a wise guide inside your mind, helping you navigate tricky emotions and relationships. With mentalization, you can start to understand why you feel the way you do, and make positive changes to build stronger, healthier connections with others. It's like learning a new language that helps you communicate better with yourself and others, and can help heal those attachment wounds.

Goals for group:

1. Improve emotional regulation and self-awareness

2. Enhance ability to understand and empathize with others

3. Develop more effective relationships and communication skills

4. Increase self-reflection and introspection

Group Process:

Each session will focus on a specific theme or topic, such as attachment, trauma, or relationships. The group leader will help facilitate discussions, encouraging members to mentalize (reflect on) their own thoughts, feelings, and intentions, as well as those of others in the group. As the group works together to develop a safe and supportive environment, members will learn to identify and challenge their own mentalizing biases and assumptions.

With rolling admission and an initial course of brief individual work to support you, its never too late to get started. Reach out today!
