More About Nicole Chmela Game M.A. LCPC
My vocation to the counseling profession has been the culmination of my Jesuit education, training in psychology, theology, and passion for social justice. I strive for the "magis" in Latin the more or greater. I hope in therapy to be present to my clients and help them also strive for the "magis" in their own lives by listening to and being present to what is happening in the connection of their own mind, body, and spirit. I believe in being fully present to my clients and therein lies an opportunity for them to heal, feel understood, and support change. My goal is to educate and share the tools to prepare clients to live with more confidence, balance and intentionality. My hope is to help clients make meaning of their struggles, articulate their desires, and collaborate to reach their goals.
About Nicole Chmela Game
I am proud to be a native Chicagoan and after having my first child moved to the western suburbs. I earned my Bachelor's degree in education from Marquette University and my Master's degrees in Theology and Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Chicago. I specialize in using mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, spiritually integrated psychotherapy, along with other evidence based approaches. My previous work in education at the secondary, collegiate, and graduate levels have shaped me as a professional. I previously worked as a teacher, campus minister, and adjunct professor in graduate counseling studies. My training as a yoga instructor and a spiritual director also influence my philosophy of counseling. I started my professional counseling career at the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being 10 years ago and then moved to Heritage Professional Associates 5 years ago.
I deeply value relationships and am grateful for dear family and friends (and enjoy cooking for and with them!) I am extremely grateful to be raising my 4 and 6 year old daughters with my husband. We enjoy working and playing in our garden, finding solace in nature, and being active running, biking, swimming, and skiing. Community is very important to my family and we enjoy being a part of a faith community as well as giving time in service to others in the community.
I have always enjoyed tea but since having children have found enjoyment in coffee in the early morning hours, especially. I feel privileged to be called to the mental health profession and am particularly proud to be a part of Heritage Professional Associates. I am grateful to work and learn with an esteemed group of professional colleagues committed to growth, change, education and social justice.
