Jennifer enjoys spending time with her son and husband, baking bread, reading, exercising, and learning more about the clients she works with. She is passionate about children, adolescents, parenting, and the postpartum period. As a mother, Jennifer recognizes the opportunity that is given to parents in guiding their children, and enjoys walking alongside parents as they learn to better understand their children.
About Jennifer Fernandes
Jennifer is a Master’s level clinician who has completed her degree at Adler University in clinical mental health counseling. She has experience working with children and adolescents in community mental health. Prior to her clinical experience, Jennifer taught kindergarten for expat children in Uganda and spent much of her time mentoring adolescents at a nearby secondary school.
Jennifer believes that everyone has a need for connection, a sense of belonging, and the core belief that they are loved. She uses a person-centered approach that incorporates attachment and developmental theories. Jennifer also utilizes CBT, ACT, and mindfulness in the therapeutic process to increase self-awareness and growth. She firmly believes in the importance of a trusting and collaborative relationship with her clients and desires to meet clients exactly where they are.
