Dr. Kruse’s Approach To Therapy

Dr. Kruse’s approach is guided by her passion for providing students, parents and  adults with clarity, wisdom and expertise in identifying and addressing barriers which prevent their positive growth and flourishing.

About Dr. Kruse

Dr. Kruse is a licensed clinical psychologist with 25 years of experience, specializing in work with children, adolescents and adults to provide both neuropsychological evaluations and therapy services. Her therapeutic approach is guided by her values of being collaborative, grounded in professional best practices, and motivated to help others live more fully into their potential.

Dr. Kruse is one of the managing partners at Heritage; she came to Heritage in 2016 with many years of prior clinical and program leadership experience in a non-profit setting as well as developing and leading an APA-accredited doctoral internship program for 17 years. Over the years, she has also served as adjunct faculty at Wheaton College Graduate School, teaching doctoral level classes in Child Assessment, Ethics, and Practicum Seminars.

In her spare time, Dr. Kruse enjoys running on quiet trails or beaches, drinking tea by the fire and engaging in good conversations and laughter with her close friends and family. She and her husband have 3 sons (spanning from teenage to young adulthood years), who keep their homelife hopping. Her faith and her family keep her rooted inwhat is truly important in life.

She specializes in:

Neuropsychological/Psychological Testing

With Board Certification in School Neuropsychology and extensive experience in the field, Dr. Kruse works with students, parents and adults to identify their unique social, emotional and/or learning needs. Neurodevelopmental concerns (such as ADHD, learning disabilities – dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or autism spectrum concerns), behavioral issues and emotional distress (anxiety, depression/mood conditions, trauma) can create barriers to one’s positive growth.  Through psychological/neuropsychological testing and consultation, Dr. Kruse works collaboratively with her clients to get clarity on their unique needs and strengths and then crafts a specific and workable plan to address the barriers that keep them from flourishing.

She also specializes in other types of evaluations as well, including adoption evaluations, gifted testing (including evaluations for “2e”/Twice exceptional students), wellness evaluations for international students, testing for accommodations or educational placement, and assessments to determine emotional/relational readiness for ministry (clergy/ordinand, missions, pre-field assessments).

Therapy

In therapy, Dr. Kruse works with children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, social/relational issues, spiritual concerns, life transitions and trauma. Her therapeutic approach is warm, relational and includes humor to create space for growth and healing to occur.

She also provides consultations and builds partnerships with local schools, churches and organizations to promote wellness in individuals, institutions and communities.
