Personality
Early in life we all learn certain patterns of knowing ourselves, relating to others and the world in order to make sense of the context in which we find ourselves. Sometimes those patterns can become generalized across all different settings in our adult lives, held rigidly even when they lead to isolation or dependence, hurting or being hurt by those we love, and leave us feeling chronically bad, empty, or alone. Narcissistic, Borderline or Dependent Personality Disorder, to name a few, represent the names we have for these deeply ingrained patterns. Treatments such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) are here to support you in changing these patterns.
