Mentalization-Based Therapy
“Mentalizing is a process by which we make sense of each other and ourselves, implicitly and explicitly.” A history of pain and distrust in relationships tends to make this “mentalizing” ability much harder to hold and effectively balance. As a result it can feel impossible to accurately interpret and simultaneously hold both ours and others’ motivations, beliefs, thoughts, and feelings. Mentalization-based Treatment (MBT) focuses on shoring up and increasing our capacity to mentalize even when things get overwhelming and painful. An evidence based treatment for BPD and early attachment wounds, MBT helps you find both yourself and others by embracing complexity in simple ways.
