Undergraduate students work primarily in our Hinsdale office on the Intake Team and engage in the following activities (not an exhaustive list):
· Intake coordination: Speaking directly to new clients as well as reviewing requests for treatment submitted online, gathering basic demographic information, answering questions, and assisting new clients with the steps for setting up an initial appointment with one of the therapists or testing providers.
· Insurance processing: Gathering an initial quote of benefits for new clients, following up with customer advocates for existing clients, and speaking with representatives regarding outpatient mental health and psychological testing benefits.
· Clinical Supervision: Discussing questions, concerns, and areas of interest that arise through the course of the internship with members of the intake team and/or staff on a weekly basis.
· Neuropsychological/Psychological testing: Scoring and collecting test data for the psychologists while learning more about the purpose and clinical uses of a wide variety of assessment tests/measures. (These opportunities are available through the Heritage Diagnostic and Assessment Center and would occur mostly in the Wheaton office).
· Literature review: Examining research, reading academic journal articles, and producing summaries on a variety of mental health topics.
